Thrissur (Malayalam: ???????) is the administrative capital of Thrissur District situated in the central part of Kerala state, India. Thrissur
district was formed on 1 July 1949. It is an important cultural centre, and is known as the Cultural Capital of Kerala.

Thrissur doesn?t have an airport of its own. The closest airport is the Cochin International Airport located near the city of Kochi which is about 52 km away. This airport is easily accessible via road from Thrissur. It has domestic flights from cities like Bangalore, Chennai, Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Ahmedabad, and also from smaller cities such as Vizag, Trivandrum, Pune among others. Kochi is also one of the busiest international airports within India with flights to and from Kuala Lumpur, Dubai, Bangkok, Singapore, Doha, Sharjah and many others. Major Indian and international carriers who service this airport are Indigo, Spicejet, Air India, Jet Airways, Go Air, Qatar Airways, Emirates, Etihad, Oman Air, etc.
Thrissur has good bus connectivity to many smaller cities nearby and also to Kochi, which is the nearest hub. However, buses to Thrissur are also available from major cities close by such as Chennai, Bangalore, Madurai, Coimbatore, Trivandrum and others. Most of these buses are AC buses which charge anywhere between 800 to 1500 rupees depending on the distance travelled. Some of the major bus operators are Parveen Travels, Kallada Travels, Greenline Kerala, Citi Tours and many others. KSRTC also has many buses plying from other cities of the state to Thrissur as well with AC as well as non-AC options. AC buses from Kochi airport to Thrissur are also readily available.
Thrissur railway station is a busy train station serviced by many trains and by train traffic alone, is the busiest station in Kerala. Many trains on the Cochin route pass through and thus have stopped here. Express trains from major cities such as Hyderabad, Bangalore, Kolkata, Chennai, and Delhi pass through here including passenger trains to smaller towns nearby, within the state of Kerala.
